Pre-Stretched Braiding Hair

Pre-stretched hair is already feathered at the ends, so it is ready to use without stretching. It gives a natural tapered finish and is the go to choice for knotless braids and box braids.

Jumbo and Yaki Braiding Hair

Jumbo braid hair comes in thicker bundles for larger braids, while Yaki texture has a slightly coarse finish that blends well with natural afro hair.

Curly Braiding Hair

French curl and bouncy curly braiding hair have curly ends that create curly braids and boho looks without extra styling.

Human Bulk Hair

Crochet Braids, Twists and Locs

Crochet hair is pre looped, pre twisted or pre braided, and is attached to cornrows with a crochet needle. Because the braiding or twisting is already done, installation takes a few hours instead of a full day.

• Box braid crochet: zizi braids and French curl box braids.
• Twists: Senegalese, passion, spring, yanky and afro twists.
• Locs: distressed butterfly locs, goddess locs with curly ends and double ended dreadlock extensions.
• Wave crochet: deep wave and water wave crochet hair for a soft, curly look.

Knotless Braids vs Box Braids

Box braids start with a small knot of braiding hair at the root, which gives a neat, square base. Knotless braids start with your own hair and gradually feed in braiding hair, so there is less tension at the scalp and the braids lie flatter and look more natural. Both work best with pre-stretched hair.

How Many Packs of Braiding Hair Do You Need?

• Jumbo or large braids: around 4 to 5 packs.
• Medium box or knotless braids: around 5 to 7 packs.
• Small braids or extra long lengths: 7 to 8 packs or more.
• Crochet styles: usually 6 to 8 packs, depending on fullness.

Choosing Length and Colour

Shoulder length braids need around 14 to 18 inches of hair, mid back braids around 22 to 26 inches and waist length braids 28 inches and more. Natural black and off black blend with most hair. Hot Water Setting

Synthetic braiding hair can be set with hot water once the braids are installed. Dip the ends into hot, not boiling, water for a few seconds to seal them, smooth flyaways and soften the hair so it hangs naturally. Pat dry with a towel and let the braids dry completely. Hot water setting is not needed for human hair.

Protecting Your Edges and Scalp

Protective styles should protect your hair, not stress it. Ask your braider to avoid pulling the hairline too tightly, choose knotless or larger braids around the edges, and avoid very heavy, extra long styles if your edges are delicate. If braids feel painful or cause bumps, they are too tight.

Caring for Braids and Crochet Styles

• Keep your scalp clean with a diluted shampoo or a cleansing spray applied between the braids.
• Moisturise your scalp and your own hair with a light oil or leave in spray.
• Sleep with a satin scarf or bonnet to reduce frizz.
• Remove braids after 6 to 8 weeks to let your own hair rest.
